Conclusion on classification
The official classification of furan in Annex VI of Regulation 1272/2008/EC is Aquatic Chronic cat. 3, therefore the hazard statements H332 and H332 are applied to the classification and labelling.
The long-term fish data presented in the US EPA indicates that furan may not require classification for the environment because the NOEC is >1 mg/l. However it has not been possible to ascertain the reliability of the study.
