Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The partition coefficients of the test item have been determined and are shown below:
Mean Log10 Pow: 3.15 to 4.51 (Mean area %: 17.4)
Mean Log10 Pow: >6.5 (Mean area %: 82.6)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
6.5
at the temperature of:
30 °C

Additional information

The partition coefficients of the test item have been determined using the HPLC method, designed to be compatible with Method A8 Partition Coefficient of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 117 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 13 April 2004. The results are shown in the following table:

Mean Area %

Mean Log10Pow

Mean Partition Coefficient

17.4

3.15 to 4.51

1.43 x 103to 3.27 x 104

82.6

>6.5

>3.16 x 106

The method guideline states that the measurement of partition coefficient should be carried out on substances in their unionised form. However, the dissociation constants of certain functional groups found in the test item made it impossible to satisfy this criterion (see Dissociation Constant). Testing would be required at approximately pH 1.5 or below for the acidic functional groups to be in the unionised form. Therefore, as pH 1.5 or below is outside the environmental pH range for this test and also experimentally impractical, testing was carried out at approximately neutral pH with the functional groups ionised.
