Conclusion on classification

The registered substance, Alcohols, C14-15-branched is readily biodegradable. Suitable read-across data indicate that the substance is not toxic at the limit of solubility. Therefore, the substance is not classified for acute category effects according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.

However, two of the constituents, C14 (tetradecan-1-ol) and C15 (pentadecan-1-ol), are present at >25% and are classified as Chronic Category 1, with an M factor = 1.

Therefore, the substance is classified as Chronic Category 1 for the environment in the EU according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
