Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Experimental acute toxicity studies of reliabilities 1 or 2 (Klimisch rating), performed according to international guidelines, are available to assess the aquatic toxicity of the registered substance. The studies were performed on two source substances:

  • Reaction Mass of 1-[(1R*,6S*)-2,2,6-trimethylcyclohexyl]-3-hexanol and 1-[(1S*,6S*)-2,2,6 -trimethylcyclohexyl]-3-hexanol (EC 947-716 -8);

  • Reaction mass of (3R*)-1-[(1R*,6S*)-2,2,6-trimethylcyclohexyl]hexan-3-ol and (3S*)-1-[(1R*,6S*)-2,2,6-Trimethylcyclohexyl]hexan-3-ol (EC# 942-425-2).

The read-across is based on the hypothesis that sources and target substances have similar physico-chemical, ecotoxicological and environmental fate properties because of their structural similarity. The structural similarity and available data between the sources and the target substances support the read-across hypothesis. Adequate, reliable and available scientific information indicates that the sources and target substances have similar ecotoxicological profile. The Read-Across justification documents are provided in section 13 of IUCLID.

According to the experimental studies, no effects were observed on the three aquatic trophic levels (fish Danio rerio, aquatic invertebrates Daphnia magna, algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata) up to the solubility limit of the test substances, and no inhibiting effects on activated sludge microorganisms of a municipal sewage treatment plant were observed at the limit test item concentration of 1000 mg/L.
