Description of key information
Referring to the results of the water solubility test (see IUCLID endpoint 4.8 of the technical dossier) only very low metal concentrations have been detected during and after the 7-day solubilisation phase at pH 6, resulting in the conclusion that slags, tin-smelting can be regarded to be highly insoluble in water.
Relevant exposure of sediment is unlikely regarding the use of slags, tin-smelting. Use of this substance only takes place at a limited number of industrial sites and due to company´s implemented risk management measures releases of slags, tin-smelting to the environment or waste water streams can be excluded.
Against this background simulation testing on ultimate degradation in surface water and sediment simulation testing do not need to be conducted under Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH).
