Description of key information
Due to absence of functional groups which would induce amphiphilic properties, such as hydrophilic and hydrophobic groups, surface activity can be excluded.
The water solubility test (see IUCLID endpoint 4.8 of the technical dossier) revealed that the substance is highly insoluble and that only very low metal concentrations are leached out into the aqueous medium. In fact, the accumulated concentrations of all detected metals was below 1 mg/L.
Against this background, performance of a study to determine the surface tension of slags is considered to be not scientifically justified under Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH).
