key study
Study period:
29.02.2012
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.5 (Surface Tension)
Version / remarks:
OECD 115 (Surface tension)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
OECD harmonised ring method
Surface tension:
26.7 mN/m
Temp.:
20 °C
Conc.:
1 g/L
Remarks on result:
other: Arithmetic mean was corrected by calibration factor determined via water calibration
Conclusions:
The test item Dermosoft decalact has a surface tension of 26.7 mN/m (concentration = 1000 mg/l) if determined according to method A.5 "Surface tension" as decsribed in Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008.
Executive summary:

The surface tension of the test item was performed according to the principles laid down in Comission Regulation 440/2008, method A.5. As reference substances water and n- hexane were also tested by using an automatic tensiometer with a built-in evaluation units, by which the necessary corrections using Harkins & Jordan method were performed. The test was performed at 20°C.

Description of key information

Additional information

The test on surface tension was performed according to method A.5 laid down in EC Regulation 440/2008.

The test was performed according to GLP requirements. No deviations were observed.

The arithmetic mean of three independant measurements corrected by calibration factor obtained from water giving a surface tesnion of the test substance of 26.7 mN/m.
