Description of key information

In the absence of any ecotoxicity to aquatic organisms and extreme low sorption potential and very fast biodegradation (60% biodegradation after 11 days), further testing on benthic and terrestrial organisms has been waived. The EPM can not be used: as no PNEC freshwater could be derived.

DL-alanine is not expected to cause toxicity to benthic or terrestrial organisms. Direct or indirect exposure of the sediment compartment significantly above the natural occurrence in sediment (benthic organisms) is unlikely.
