Description of key information
According to section 1 REACH Annex XI a study does not need to be conducted, as the substance is marketed as an aqueous solution only and the density is expected to be very similar to the one of water. The data from manufactures proved this expectation and the density of SMBT aqueous solutions is only slightly higher than 1 kg/l at ambient temperature.

Additional information
A density of approx. 1.3 kg/l (25°C) was reported by Flexsys for a 45 - 50 % solution; and 1.26 kg/l (20°C) was reported by Lanxess for 50% solution and 1.14 kg/l for 30% solution.
