Description of key information
According to section 1 REACH Annex XI a study does not need to be conducted, as the substance is marketed as an aqueous solution only and the melting point is expected to be very similar to the one of water. The data from manufactures proved this expectation and the melting points of SMBT aqueous solutions are slightly lower than 0°C.

Additional information
A melting point of -6°C was reported by Flexsys for a 45 - 50 % aqueous solution; -14°C was reported by Lanxess for a 50 % aqueous solution and -3.3°C for a 30% aqueous solution.
