Description of key information

A GLP study following OECD 301F test guideline was carried out for methyl ricinoleate. The inoculum was collected in a non-adapted secondary effluent of the municipal station of Versailles (78, France). Suspended solids concentration in the test medium under testing conditions was 21 mg/L. The chemical demand of the test item was determined in order to convert the biological demand in oxygen during the study into percentage of biodegradation. 10% biodegradation was reached within 1-2 days. 60% biodegradation was reached within the 10 following days. 77% biodegradation of the substance was reached within 27 d. Therefore, the substance is considered readily biodegradable.

Based on this, hydrolysis and bioaccumulation studies are not needed.
