Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The vapour pressure is < 2.13E-3 Pa at 25 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

There is no experimental data for vapour pressure available.

The key value of vapour pressure is estimated by using category approach based on the available data for the main constituents of the substance, C12 Lauric acid (CAS 143-07-7) and C14 Myristic acid (CAS 544-63-8). C12 Lauric acid (CAS 143-07-7) had the higher vapour pressure of these two consitutents (see explanation below).

According to the theoretical principle of Raoult’s law, the vapour pressure of mixture is equal to the mole-fraction-weighted sum of the components' vapour pressures:

ptot= ∑ pixi

The vapour pressure of mixture should be lower than the vapour pressure of the component which has the highest vapour pressure in its pure form (C12).
