Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The acute toxicity of 1,4 -Butanediol to aquatic invertebrates (Daphnia magna) has been tested according to a number of guideline and non-guideline methods under GLP and non-GLP conditions. Test results with a Klimisch score of at least 2 yielded a 48h EC50 value of 813 mg/L (Hüls AG, 1995) and >1000 mg/L (NITE Japan, 1996), a 48h LC50 of 15000 mg/L (DuPont, 1982), a 48h LC0 value of 7000 mg/L (DuPont, 1982), and a 48h EC0 value of 500 mg/L and EC50 value of >500 mg/L (BASF, 1988). These results indicate that 1,4 -Butanediol exhibits a low order of acute toxicity to aquatic invertebrates.
