Description of key information
Water solubility of a UVCB substance is not determinable accurately, since variation in composition has great influence on solubility results. It can however be concluded from the results of a leaching test (report in 1.4) that the mass based water solubility of GLS in neutral buffer solution is ca. 8 % (80 g/kg). Solubility increases as the pH of water decreases, and readily soluble fraction reaches ca. 25% solubility level at pH 4.
Stabilised (carbonised) Green liquor sludge may have significantly lower solubility in water if compared to fresh material.
