Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

PNECs considering the lithium anhydrous were deduced from the study with the most sensitive species available for each compartment/endpoint.

The updated PNECs for sediment and soil have not yet been integrated in the risk assessment calculation. An update of the CSR is planned for November 2020.

Conclusion on classification

Classification, Labelling, and Packaging Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008
The available experimental test data are reliable and suitable for classification purposes under Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008. Based on available data on aquatic toxicity, the test item is not classified according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP), as amended for the tenth time in Regulation (EU) No 2017/776 as the acute (LC50/ ErC50) and chronic toxicity (ECx/ NOEC) are > 1 mg/L.

Overview of results used for Classification and Labelling:

Lithium:

Fish, short-term, freshwater: LC50 = 18 mg/L

Fish, long-term, freshwater: NOEC = 2.87 mg/L

Daphnia magna, short-term, freshwater: EC50 = 10 mg/L with pH-adjustment

Daphnia magna, long-term, freshwater: NOEC = 1.7 mg/L

Algae (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata), long-term, freshwater: ErC50 = 25.6 mg/L and NOEC 1.65 mg/L
