Remarks on result:
other: 90 % of saturation concentration

The observed average surface tension of a 90 % saturated aqueous solution (in Milli-Q water) of the test material was 70.54 mN/m at 20.7 °C. The value corrected for calibration (1.008) and for Harkin-Jordan (0.999) was 71.0 mN/m.

Conclusions:
The surface tension of the test material in water (90 % of saturation concentration) was determined to be 71.0 mN/m at 20 ± 1 °C.
Executive summary:

The surface tension of the test material was investigated in accordance with the standardised guidelines OECD 115 and EU Method A.5 under GLP conditions using the ring method.

Surface tension was determined by measuring the force required to remove a platinum-iridium ring from a solution surface.

The observed average surface tension of Milli-Q water was 72.22 mN/m at 19.6 °C, and a correction factor of 1.008 was calculated.

The surface tension of the test material in water (90 % of saturation concentration) was determined to be 71.0 mN/m at 20 ± 1 °C. In accordance with the criteria outlined in the OECD Guideline, the test material is not considered to be a surface-active substance.

Description of key information

The surface tension was determined to be 71 mN/m at 21 °C at 90 % saturation.
