Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

The toxicity of the substance of reference was assessed during two short term acute toxicity tests on aquatic invertebrates (de Nadai , 2009 ; Pallas and Dion, 1983) and one short term toxicity test on algae (Hoffmann, 2010). Due to an insufficient level of experimental details and a too short exposure period (24 hours), the Pallas and Dion study was disregarded. On the opposite, the study of de Nadai (2009) was extensively detailed. The design used sealed test vessels adapted to volatile substance, as for other nitriles substances, despite the fact the test substance is not volatile. However this design had no impact on the results presented. The results are deemed to be fully reliable with the exceptions that no chemical analysis were performed. The GLP study on algae (Hoffmann, 2010) was extensively conducted. It revealed low algal toxicity; yet the substance happened to be metabolized by algae in test medium after 72 hours.
