Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Data on the long-term toxicity of 2-ethylhexanol nonanoate (CAS 59587-44-9) to aquatic organisms are not available. The assessment was therefore based on studies conducted with the structurally similar substance Isopropyl myristrate (CAS 110-27-0) for which data is available, as part of a read across approach, which is in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex XI, 1.5. Further justification is given within the overall summary chapter 6.1 and within the analogue justification.
The chronic toxicity of Isopropyl myristrate (CAS 110-27-0) to Daphnia magna was tested according to OECD 202 (Scholz 1995) at 1 and 100 mg/L (nominal). After prolonged stirring, the test substance was filtered through glass fibre filter. No effects on mortality or reproduction were detected at both test substance concentrations. Therefore, the NOEC(reproduction, 21d) is >= 100 mg/L.
Thus, based on the above mentioned result, and due to the structural and profile similarities of the substances, as are explained with in the overall endpoint summary 6.1 it can be concluded that no chronic toxicological effects on aquatic invertebrates are expected up to the limit of water solubility for 2-ethylhexanol nonanoate (CAS 59587-44-9).
