Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex IX and X, the toxicity testing on invertebrates study does not need to be conducted as direct and indirect exposure of the soil compartment is unlikely. The reaction product and its constituent substances show a low bioaccumulative (low log Kow ) potential. Hence, a relevant distribution into soil and a considerable exposure of soil macroorganisms is not expected. There are however 4 studies with the major constituent (LAS) of the substance being registered (Marlon ARL).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Long-term EC10, LC10 or NOEC for soil macroorganisms:
6.2 mg/kg soil dw

Additional information

The 14-day acute toxicity of LAS to earthworms is reported as LC50>1000 and EC10 = 277 mg/kg soil dry weight.

The 21-day chronic toxicity of LAS to annelids is reported as EC10 = 6.2 mg/kg soil dry weight.

The 28-day chronic toxicity of LAS to oligochaetes is reported as EC10 = 46 mg/kg soil dry weight.

The reported EC10 for eleven species of soil dwelling organisms exposed to LAS ranges from 6.2 - 383 mg/kg soil dry weight.
