Additional information

There is one short-term fish study available for 2-amino-1,3-propanediol (APD), which was used as key study for the assessment. The study was conducted according the OECD guideline 203 and GLP (Kuttler, 1997). The test organism Brachydanio rerio was exposed to APD in a static system for 96 hours, at test concentrations of 600, 1200, 2500, 5000, and 10000 mg/L. The report states that the test solutions were turbid and that a white precipitate was observed after pH adjustment. The amount of test substance was only measured through TOC analysis, which does not allow the quantification of dissolved test substance only. The actual concentrations in the test solution are therefore unknown. However, since no effects were observed at the lowest test concentrations 600 mg/L and 1250 mg/L, it can be concluded that APD had no toxic effects on the fish within the range of water solubility. An LC50 value of 6600 mg/L is reported.
