Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

No study on the chronic toxicity to aquatic invertebrates for Diisopropyl sebacate (CAS 7491-02-3) is available. Nevertheless, the acute toxicity tests of this ester clearly showed no effects occurred in the range of water solubility. Furthermore, only negligible releases into surface waters from sewage treatment plants are expected to take place due to: a) the ready biodegradability and b) the high adsorption properties of this substance, resulting in an effective removal in sewage treatment plants. Therefore chronic exposure of aquatic organisms is unlikely. In addition, available data indicate, that all members of the PFAE linear are not bioaccumulative. Adverse effects on aquatic organisms were observed for Adipic acid ester of the PFAE linear category with short chain alcohols exclusively and are not expected or observed for Sebacic acid ester of the PFAE linear category. Hence, due to animal welfare reasons and to avoid unnecessary invertebrate tests chronic toxicity to aquatic invertebrates of Diisopropyl sebacate (CAS 7491-02-3) is not expected to be of concern and further testing is not necessary.
