Analysis of duplicate samples at the beginning and end of the test indicated that intended exposure concentrations of the test substance were achieved but not maintained (at all concentrations, maesured values after 48 hours were below the limit of detection).

At the lowest exposure concentration, 15% of the Daphia were mobile but swimming at the surface of the test medium. No sush floaters were observed at 0.313 mg/ml, but some animals in all exposure groups at higher concentrations were mobile and submerged.

The 48-hour median effect concentration (EC50) for immobilisation, based on nominal concentrations, was calculated to be 1.66 mg/ml (95% confidence limits of 1.35 and 2.11 mg/ml) based on the numbers of floating and/or immobile Daphnia, the 48-hour EC50 was found to be 1.39 mg/ml (95% confidence limits of 1.13 and 1.74 mg/ml)

The test material was found to be susceptible to hydrolysis, so intended exposure limits of the parent material could not be maintained during the test. However, the conditions employed are considered to reflect potential real-life exposure of Daphnia in surface waters following accidental release of the test substance.

Water hardness ranged from 218 to 232 mg CaCO3/1
