Pre-Test for Safety

When heating a sample of the test item in an open test tube (10*100 mm) in an aluminium block with a gas burner, formation of bubbles was observed at approx. 230 °C. The bubble chain broke at 213 °C. No signs of change were visible after cooling down.

The test is considered as safe.

Evaluation and Result

The flash point is given as the mean value of the duplicate determination. The measured flash point is therefore 72.0 ± 1.0°C (corresponding to 345.2 ± 1.0 K) at 101325 Pa.

Discussion

The difference between the two values was below 2 °C. For this reason, the determination was considered valid.

The flashpoint of the test item is stated as 72.0 °C (corresponding to 345.2 K) at 101325 Pa.
