Description of key information
Physico-chemical properties of registered substance were determined from experimental testing, except Partition coefficient and Water solubility that were derived from QSAR data on constituents in a constituents approach. Some endpoints were waived, based on chemical structure of known constituents and/or experience in handling, testing and use of the substance.
The substance is a light yellow to amber mobile liquid at ambient temperature.
It is expected to float over water, because of its low relative density (0.9209). The substance contains constituents having different water solubilities and volatilities.
The substance is classified as combustible liquid, Category 4 according to UN Globally Harmonized System (GHS criteria).
Otherwise, no other hazard was identified with regard to physical properties (flammability, explosivity, oxidising properties, self-heating substance, self-reactive substance, organic peroxyde) based on Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 (CLP regulation).

Summary of relevant physico-chemical properties:
Endpoint (method) |
Data |
Appearance at 20 °C and 1 atm. (visual) |
Registered substance is a light yellow to amber mobile liquid |
Freezing point (OECD 102/EU A1/BS4633, crystallizing point) |
Freezing point < -20°C |
Boiling point (OECD 103/EU A2, Siwoloboff) |
223.7 ± 0.5 °C at 101.325 kPa (initial boiling point) |
Relative density (OECD 109/EU A3, oscillating densimeter) |
D20/20 = 0,9209 ± 0,0001. Less dense than water |
Particule size distribution (data waiving) |
study scientifically not necessary (not granular powder) |
Vapour pressure (OECD 104/EU A4, static method) |
724 Pa at 20 °C and 941 Pa at 25 °C(interpolation). Note that the result obtained on this kind of substance should be largely influence by small amounts of volatile constituents and these values may represent a limited part of the substance. Therefore the result should be considered with caution when used for subsequent assessment (worst case). |
Log Kow at 25°C (Constituent approach - QSAR data on constituents) |
The logKow of the major constituents of the substance (corresponding to more than 79 and 85% of the composition depending on the quality) are ranging between 2.8 and 6.9 mg/L at ambient temperature for the carotol-rich quality and between 2.5 and 6.9 mg/L for the geraniol-rich quality. |
Water solubility (Constituent approach - QSAR data on constituents, Mixture approach) |
The water solubility of the major constituents of the substance(corresponding to more than 79 and 85% of the composition depending on the quality) are ranging between 0.000388 and 41.3 mg/L at ambient temperature for the carotol-rich quality and between 0.000365 and 137 mg/L for the geraniol-rich quality. |
Surface tension (data waiving) |
Waived based on chemical structure of the known constituents of the substance, not characteristic of true surfactants and considering that it is not the intended use of the substance (i.e. not a desired property). |
Auto-ignition temperature (EU A15/ DIN51794) |
250 °C (between 99 309 and 99 960 Pa.) |
Flammability Flash-point (EU A9, ISO 2719 -B, non-equilibrium closed cup) Flammability air/water (data waiving) Self-heating (data waiving) |
The flash point of registered substance was determined to be 72.0°C (345.2 K) at 101325 Pa. Note that the result obtained on this kind of substance should be largely influence by small amounts of volatile constituents and the result doesn't represent the major part of the substance. The substance is not classified according to Regulation (EC) N°1272/2008 (CLP criteria) and it is classified as combustible liquid Category 4 according to UN Globally Harmonized System (GHS criteria). Waived based onexperience in handling and use and chemical structure of known constituents of the substance. NOT flammable if contact with air or water
Waived based on physical state (liquid) NO self-heating substance anticipated. |
Explosive properties (data waiving) |
Waived based on chemical structure of known constituents and experience in handling, testing and use of the substance. LOW POTENTIAL for explosive properties |
Oxidising properties (data waiving) |
Waived based on chemical structure of known constituents of the substance. LOW POTENTIAL for oxidizing properties. |
Self-reactive properties (data waiving) |
Waived based on chemical structure of known constituents NO potential for self-reactive properties. |
Organic peroxide (data waiving) |
Waived based on chemical structure of known constituents NOT an organic peroxide. |
Slight variations are possible with composition (UVCB substance).
