Description of key information

By QSAR Toolbox version 3.3 predicted model the toxicity to microorganism (IGC50) in Tetrahymena pyriformis was estimated to be 921.17791748 mg/l for 48 hrs in static condition for test substance 4-Aminoazobenzene-3,4'-disulfonic acid on growth inhibition effects.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
921.177 mg/L

Additional information

Various studies for the target chemical 4-Aminoazobenzene-3, 4’-disulfonic acid (Cas no.101-50-8) along with read across substance data were reviewed to summarize the following information:

48 hrs aquatic toxicity study (SSS QSAR prediction model, 2016) was conducted to assess toxic effects to micro-organism of the test compound 4-Aminoazobenzene-3, 4’-disulfonic acid (CAS no 101-50-8) and the results were predicted. This predicted study indicate that the toxicity to micro reganism (IGC50) in Tetrahymena pyriformis to be 921.177mg/l.

Other read across substance Disodium 2-amino-5-[(4-sulphonatophenyl)azo]benzenesulphonate (Cas no. 2706-28-7)study from German GSBL database;2016 indicate that the effect concentration (EC0) value was obtained be to 5000 mg/l for 24 hrs.on Mortality, swimming behaviour and Cell proliferation inhibition effects.

On the basis of the above results of predicted data for target chemical and its read across substance, it can be concluded that the substance can be classified as non- hazardous to micro organism.
