Additional information

Acute tests on all three trophic levels were performed to examine the aquatic toxicity of propyl acetate. The fish turned out to be the most sensitive species revealing an EC50 (96h) of 60 mg/L [Brooke & al., 1984/85]. Effects of propyl acetate towards Daphnia magna measured at 91.5 mg/L (EC50, 48h) [Dow Chemical Company, 2007]. For algae the EC50 (72h) of 672 mg/L indicates a lower sensitive to propyl acetate [Dow Chemical Company, 2007]. Thus, propyl acetate is considered as acutely harmful to aquatic organisms.

No data on long-term toxicity are available.
