Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

A Daphnia magna reproductive study is available on CAS 16470-24-9 with NOEC reported as geometric mean because the difference between nominal and measured values is often greater than ± 20 %. The test was performed on a similar substance within the category of Stilbene Fluorescent Whitening Agents, the analogous dihydroxyethyl derivative tetrasulphonated sodium salt.

This substance can be considered a conservative representative, since it has the similar organic functionalities, but the higher sulphonation let to a higher water solubility, therefore availability in the water compartment. The percentage and chemical identity of organic impurities are also very similar. The category Justification Report is attached to section 13.
