Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The algal growth inhibition to Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata, was carried out according to OECD 201 Freshwater Alga and Cyanobacteria, Growth Inhibition Test and EU Method C.3 guidelines. The middle clear and colourless Water Soluble Fraction (WSF) fraction was siphoned off and used as the highest test concentration. The lower test concentrations were prepared by subsequent dilutions of the WSF in test medium. Six replicates of exponentially growing algal cultures were exposed to untreated control medium, while three replicates per test group were exposed to solutions representing 1.0, 3.2, 10, 32 and 100% of a WSF prepared at a loading rate of 100 mg/l. Analyses showed a significant decrease of the measured concentrations during the test period. As a consequence, Time Weighted Average (TWA) exposure concentrations were calculated. The range tested based on TWA concentrations was 0.26, 0.37, 1.7, 5.8 and 29 mg/l. The study met the acceptability criteria prescribed by the guideline. The 72h-NOEC for growth rate reduction based on TWA concentrations was 5.8 mg/l. The EC50 for growth rate reduction (72h-ERC50) based on TWA concentrations was 15 mg/l with a 95% confidence interval ranging from 4.6 to 49 mg/l.
