Additional information

The acute toxicity to Daphnia magna was carried out according to OECD 202 Daphnia sp., Acute Immobilisation Test and EU Method C.2 guidelines. A final test was performed based on the results of a preceding combined limit/range-finding test. Twenty daphnids per test group (4 replicates, 5 per replicate) were exposed to untreated control medium and to solutions representing 2.2, 4.6, 10, 22, 46 and 100% of a WSF prepared at a loading rate of 100 mg/l. Samples for analytical confirmation of actual exposure concentrations were taken at the start and the end of the 48-hour test period. Analysis of the samples taken at the start of the final test showed initial measured concentrations of 2.06, 3.50, 7.61, 17.2, 37.4 and 79.4 mg/l in test groups representing 2.2, 4.6, 10, 22, 46 and 100% WSF, respectively. The geometric mean average measured concentrations were calculated to correspond to 1.8, 3.2, 6.8, 15, 32 and 70 mg/l. The substance Daphnia magna acute immobilisation 48h-EC50 was 7.9 mg/l based on geometric mean average exposure concentrations (95% confidence interval between 6.9 and 9.8 mg/l). The substance NOEC was 3.2 mg/l based on the geometric mean average measured exposure concentration.
