Description of key information

Ferronickel slags showed no melting in the temperature range 40 to 600 °C. It is concluded that it has a melting point above that range.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
600 °C

Additional information

The substance was tested for melting point and thermal stability according to OECD test guidelines OECD 102 (1995) "Melting point / melting range" and OECD 113 (1981) "Screening test for thermal stability and stability in air" respectively.

The measurements in aluminium crucible with a hole showed no thermal effects in the temperature range 40 to 600 °C. After the measurement the test item in the container did not show any change such as melting or discolouring. It is concluded that it has a melting point above 600 °C
