Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

From the assessment of the chemical structure it was established that the test substance, EP-4000S, would not have explosive properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Determination of an explosiveness was conducted as part of a package of physicochemical testing on EP-4000S (Huntingdon Life Sciences, 2012, Study CVJ0131).

The chemical structure was reviewed with reference to a list of structural features published in Appendix 6 of the United Nations "Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria"; it was conlcuded that no chemical functional groups associated with explosive properties were present in the substance, and therefore an experimental assessment was not required.

Justification for classification or non-classification

On the basis of an assessment of the chemical structure of EP-4000S it was concluded that the material would not posess explosive properties. It is therefore considered that EP-4000S does not meet the criteria for classification as explosive.
