Administrative data
First-aid measures
On contact with eyes : Rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.
On skin contact : Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Obtain medical attention.
If inhaled : Remove to fresh air. Obtain medical attention.
On ingestion : Do not induce vomiting. Obtain medical attention immediately.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media: On large fires use medium expansion (>30:1) AFFF alcohol compatible foam. On small fires use medium expansion (>30:1) AFFF alcohol compatible foam, CO2 or dry sand. Unsuitable extinguishing media : Do not use water. Dry powder. Do not allow extinguishing medium to contact container contents.
Hazards during fire fighting: Vapours are heavier than air and can travel along ground to remote ignition sources. Electrostatic charges may be generated during transfer of product from its container. Ensure that all equipment is electrically earthed. Fire releases dense, irritating, and corrosive hydrogen chloride fumes. Chlorosilanes react vigorously with water. Do not apply water directly to the fire. In some cases it may be better to let fire burn until expert assistance is obtained. Material may reignite after fire is extinguished. Vapours may form explosive mixtures with air.
Hazardous Combustion Products : Thermal breakdown of this product during fire or very high heat conditions may evolve
the following decomposition products: Silica. Carbon oxides and traces of incompletely burned carbon compounds. Hydrogen. Chlorine compounds.
Special protective equipment/procedures : A self-contained respirator and protective clothing should be worn. Spill clean up may
require special clothing. Determine the need to evacuate or isolate the area according to your local emergency plan. Fires are difficult to extinguish by conventional methods. Do not put water directly on the fire, however water may be used to knock down the corrosive vapor cloud down wind of fire. Apply medium expansion (30:1) AFFF alcohol compatible foam. Applying foam initially will release significant amounts of corrosive hydrogen
chloride vapours which will be reduced when uniform blanketing is achieved. Use water spray to keep fire exposed containers cool. Do not allow any extinguishing media to enter container. Applying foam will also release significant amounts of flammable hydrogen gas that can be trapped under the foam blanket.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures : A self-contained respirator and protective clothing should be worn. Determine the need to evacuate or isolate the area according to your local emergency plan. Eliminate all possible sources of ignition.
Handling and storage
Advice on safe handling : General ventilation is required. Local ventilation is required. Avoid skin and eye contact. Do not breathe vapour. Do not ingest. Do not empty into drains.
Advice on storage : Rigorous containment .This product slowly evolves hydrogen on storage. Keep container closed and store away from water or moisture. Store in a flameproof, well ventilated area. Electrostatic charges may be generated during transfer of product from its container. Ensure that all equipment is electrically earthed. In general chlorosilanes containing Silicon-Hydride (SiH) must be stored in pressurized packaging but some exceptions do exist. In any case the material should not be repacked without guidance from Dow Corning’s packaging experts. Do not
store in or use glass containers. Vapours may form explosive mixtures with air.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Respiratory protection : Suitable respiratory protection should be worn if the product is used in large quantities, confined spaces or in other circumstances where the OEL may be approached or exceeded. Depending on the working conditions, wear Full-face respirator with ABEK-filter; Goggles or face shield; and Self-contained, positive pressure breathing apparatus (for prolonged or high exposures) .
Hand protection : Suitable, heavy duty, plastic or rubber gauntlets should be worn: 5-layer laminate of PE and EVOH (4H) or Butyl & Viton types recommended; nitrile type may be used for short periods. Regarding glove's breakthrough time,contact your chemical protective glove supplier.
Eye/face protection : Face shield , safety goggles or Full-face respirator with ABEK-filter;
Skin protection : Wear impervious overalls in circumstances where significant skin contact can occur.
Hygiene measures : Exercise good industrial hygiene practice. Wash after handling, especially before eating, drinking or smoking. Remove contaminated clothing immediately.
Stability and reactivity
Reactivity : Hydrogen is liberated on contact with water, alcohols, acidic or basic materials, many metals or metallic compounds and can form explosive mixtures in air. This product releases hydrochloric acid in contact with water and moisture. Hydrochloric acid is corrosive to metals.
Disposal considerations
Product and packaging disposal : Unhydrolysed material must be hydrolysed with excess water and the acid produced neutralised with weak alkali. After hydrolysis, the residue can be disposed of in accordance with local regulations. According to the European Waste Catalogue, Waste
Codes are not product specific, but application specific. Waste codes should be assigned by the user, preferably in discussion with the waste disposal authorities.
