Additional information

An environmental risk assessment has indicated that the members of the Aromatic Sulphonic Salt category do not pose a risk to the aquatic environment for all relevant uses. In Annex IX of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 it is laid down that chronic toxicity tests shall be proposed by the registrant if the chemical safety assessment indicates the need to investigate further the effects on fish. Therefore, and for reasons of animal welfare, a long-term toxicity study in fish is not provided.

Sodium sulphate as the main component has a low potential for bioaccumulation and aquatic toxicity is unlikely to occur. Short term toxicity tests reveal no toxicity at very high levels. Long term testing data available on the ECOTOXicology database are confirming high level of concentration to have an adverse effect and despite the original reports are not available, the data are officially reviewed and can be taken into account for risk assessment. No long term test is therefore proposed
