Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Analytical results for partition coefficient

   Test 1A  Test 1B  Test 2A  Test 2B  Test 3A  Test 3B
 pH of water layer 4.17   4.29  4.44  4.44  4.31  4.30
 logP  <-2.947  <-2.959  <-2.668  <-2.664  <-2.350  <-2.337
log mean P for determinations                 <-2.59

Stability:

The stability of stock solutions was checked alongside sample analysis.

The recovery values were approximately 10% lower than the theoretical value. This is consitent with the recoveries of the water layers from the test solutions and is deemed to show that there has been no significant degradation of the stock solutions in terms of concentration over the test period. Given the extremely high solubility in water observed during the studies, a 10% difference is not expected to significantly affect the determined results.

Conclusions:
The log Pow of <-2.6 was obtained for the test item using a shake flask method.

Description of key information

OECD Guideline 107 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), Shake Flask Method)
The log Pow of <-2.6 was obtained for the iron gluconate.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
-2.6
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

The mean logP value of <-2.6 at 25°C (Baldwin 2014, Partition Coefficient Data for REACH Substances) was determined for iron gluconate in a reliable study conducted according to an appropriate standard test method (OECD Guideline 107 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), Shake Flask Method)).
