Description of key information

The ready biodegradability potential of Coffee, bean, roasted, ext. was tested in the Closed Bottle Test conducted according to the OECD test guideline 301D and to GLP. It was determined at 50.2% on Day 28, therefore, Coffee, bean, roasted, ext. cannot be classified as readily biodegradable under the conditions of the test since it did not achieve >60% biodegradation within 28 days. However, it degraded by approximately 50%, which is considered significant degradation, therefore, it is likely that Coffee, bean, roasted, ext. would not be very persistent in the environment.

It was technically not possible to perform a hydrolysis study in accordance with the OECD test guideline 111 due lack of validated methods for complex UVCBs such as Coffee, bean, roasted, ext. However, based on the intrinsic properties of Coffee, bean, roasted, ext. constituents, slow hydrolysis may be anticipated.
