The aqueous FAS-suspension shows worse stability than the dry product. The decomposition starts after 6-12 h at room temperature, and after several minutes at 40 °C. The supsension decomposes faster when it was stirred slowly (4 - 8 h). During the decomposition process, the pH value and redox potential decrease (pH: start 2.9 to end 2.5 - 2.2; redox-potential: start + 40 mV- + 80 mV to end - 400 mV), accompanied with H2S odor. At 60 °C the formation yellow sulfur flock can be observed after 2 days.

Also when the measurement is carried out in nitrogen atmosphere or at a pH of 4-5, no improvement of stability can be obtained.
