Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Evaluated log Kow values of 1.21 and 1.33 were reported for diethyl carbonate.
Executive summary:

In the databank containing evaluated information, two values for the n-octanol/water partition coefficient log Kow of diethyl carbonate are reported. According to the databank entry a log Kow=1.21 was determined by Hansch & Leo (1987) via the shake-flask method. Park & Park (2000) observed a log Kow=1.33 at 25°C using the shake-flask method and GLC analysis.
