TGA EXPERIMENT (PRELIMINARY TEST)

Significant decrease of weight from 300°C. 25% weight loss at 406°C and 70% weight loss at 513°C.

After the experiment, dark brown residue was observed on the lid of the sample container and a dark brown molten residue remained in the sample container (original colour: Light tan). The change of the colour indicated reaction and/or decomposition of the test item.

 

DSC EXPERIMENT 1

An endothermic peak between 25°C and 125°C was observed. The effect was most likely obtained due to the evaporation of impurities. From 125°C an exothermic effect followed by an endo and exothermic effect was observed. The effect was caused by reaction and/or decomposition of the test item since, after the experiment, an orange molten residue remained in the sample container.

DSC EXPERIMENT 2

To investigate the evaporation peak, the temperature program of the second experiment was stopped after the first endothermic effect. After the experiment, the residue remained in the sample container was unchanged. With this observation and the results of the preliminary test, the endothermic peak (25°C- 125°C) was caused by evaporation of impurities.

Conclusions:
Melting and/or boiling of the test item was not observed below the temperature at which reaction and/or decomposition started (i.e. at 125°C). Based on this, the test item has no melting temperature.
Executive summary:

Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) experiments were performed in a GLP study according to EC A.1, OECD 102 and OPPTS 830.7200.

During heating from 25°C to 513°C reaction and/or decomposition of the substance started at 125°C.

Melting and/or boiling of the test item was not observed below the temperature at which reaction and/or decomposition started.

From this, it can be concluded that the test substance has no melting temperature.
