Description of key information

Diisopropyl peroxydicarbonate has been demonstrated to be not readily biodegradable. Indeed, this peroxide attained 20% biodegradation after 28 days in a test performed according to OECD guideline 301D.

The abiotic degradation of diisopropyl peroxydicarbonate has also been assessed according to OECD guideline 111. The hydrolysis of this peroxide occurs rapidly. Indeed, its half-life has been determined to be 3.49 hours at pH 4, 3.19 hours at pH 7 and 0.450 hours at pH 9 at 25°C. The main hydrolysis product is isopropanol (propan-2 -ol).

Using the HPLC screening method, Log Koc of di-iso-propyl peroxydicarbonate has been estimated to be 2.08 at 25°C according to OECD 121.
