Thiosulfates as inorganic substances are intrinsically not susceptible to any form of biodegradation. However, thiosulfates are unstable in soil (being rapidly converted to other sulfur substances such as tetradithionates) as well as in water and sediment (being subject to disproportionation to sulfite and sulfate anions).
