Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
During the flammability experiment, the burner flame was held on the test-item column for 5 minutes instead of 2. According to the SOP the burner needs to be applied for 5 minutes when the test-item is a metal powder. This had no impact on the results.

Results and discussion

Flammable solids
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
other: In contact with the flame of the gas burner the test item glowed and turned into a black residue. After removal of the ignition source, no propagation of combustion of the test item was observed.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
No propagation of combustion of the test item along 200 mm length of the pile within 4 minutes was observed. According to the guidelines, performance of the burning rate test is not required. Based on the results obtained, the test item is considered ‘not highly flammable’.
Executive summary:

The preliminary screening test was performed for the determination of the flammability of Carrier FK-800.

No propagation of combustion of the test item along 200 mm length of the pile within 4 minutes was observed. According to the guidelines, performance of the burning rate test is not required. Based on the results obtained, the test item isconsidered ‘not highly flammable’.
