Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Appearance

The test item was observed to be a light brown slightly viscous liquid during performance of GLP guideline studies.

Melting/freezing point

The pour point of the test item was determined to be 0 ± 3°C (OECD 102 and EU Method A.1).

Boiling point

The test item was determined to partially boil from approximately 280 °C (553 K) at 101 kPa with decomposition from approximately 350 °C (623 K) at 101 kPa. At 400 °C approximately 68 % of the test item remained (OECD 103 and EU Method A.2).

Relative density

The density of the test item was determined to be 987 kg/m3 at 20 ± 0.5 °C, with a relative density of 0.987 (OECD 109 and Method A.3).

Granulometry

In accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex VII, Section 7.14, granulometry does not need to be conducted if the substance is marketed or used in a non-solid or granular form. The test item is a liquid and, as a result, determination of particle size distribution is not relevant.

Vapour pressure

Vapour pressure was determined to be 9.0 x 10E-02 Pa at 25 °C (298.15 K), 0.46 Pa at 40 °C (313.15 K) and 4.4 Pa at 90 °C (363.15 K) (OECD 104 and EU Method A.4).

Partition coefficient

The partition coefficient of the test item has been determined to be in the range 1.20 x E06 to 4.35 x 10E06 with a Log10 Pow of 6.08 to 6.64 (OECD 117 and EU Method A.8).

Water solubility

The critical micelle concentration of the test item was determined to be 3.1 x 10E-02 g/L at 22.0 ± 0.5 °C. This single result is considered to be the definitive solubility limit of the test item in water because the investigationis designed to measure surface active materials and is not significantly affected by complex mixtures.

Surface tension

The surface tension of test item prepared at 90 % saturation in water was determined to be 32.0 mN/m at 22.0 ± 0.5°C. The test item was considered to be surface active (OECD 115 and EU Method A.5).

Flash point

The test item was determined not to have a flash point below 300 °C (EU Method A.9)

Autoflammability / self-ignition temperature

The test item was determined to have an auto-ignition temperature of 314 ± 5 °C (EU Method A.15).

Flammability

A flash point determination has been performed to fulfil the requirement for information on flammability of the liquid substance.

Explosive properties

Based on the chemical structure of the test item the result for the explosive properties has been predicted negative (EU Method A.14)

Oxidising properties

Based on the chemical structure of the test item the result for oxidising properties has been predicted negative (EU Method A.21)

Stability in organic solvents

The post-storage test substance concentrations of formulations prepared at target test substance concentrations of 1 and 220 mg/mL in peanut oil ranged from 95.4 % to 107 % of the pre-storage values.
