Description of key information

No studies on acute toxicity have to be conducted as the substance is classified as corrosive.

Additional information

According to column 2 of the table given in REACH Annex VII and VIII, as a general rule no studies on acute toxicity have to be conducted if the substance is classified as corrosive. This is deemed to be the case as target chemical titanium oxychloride is an unstable intermediate resulting from the hydrolysis of parent compound titanium tetrachloride. As hydrochloric acid is being formed during this hydrolysis process in a tetramolar quantity compared to the parent compound titanium tetrachloride, the resulting aqueous medium as a whole has to be considered as corrosive.

Justification for classification or non-classification

No studies on acute toxicity have to be conducted as the substance is classified as corrosive.
