Additional information

In accordance with REACH Regulation 1907/2006, Annex IX, Column 2, tests for effects on soil micro-organisms do not need to be conducted as the substance has little potential to adsorb to soil and is not very persistent.

This is substantiated by tests in which the addition of diethyl phthalate to soil had no significant effect on the total numbers of culturable bacteria isolated. More than 90% of diethyl phthalate was degraded. Values obtained for substrate richness, evenness, and diversity were not significantly different to the values from the control sugegsting that diethyl phthalate had no significant impact on the microbial community at a functional or structural level.
