Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Algal growth inhibition: EC50 = 45 mg/L

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
45 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
9 mg/L

Additional information

Toxicity to aquatic algae has been investigated in accordance with DIN methods. The 72 hour EC50, based on biomass, was 23 mg/L and, based on growth rate, was 45 mg/L. A second study, following EPA test methods and with the exposure period extended to 8 days, determined an EC50, based on cell numbers, of 30.3 mg/L.

In accordance with ECHA guidance oninformation requirements and chemical safety assessment,Chapter R.7b: Endpoint specific guidance, theErC50 endpoint is used in DNEL derivation. This is because use of values based on biomass cannot be applied to an analysis of results from a system in exponential growth without logarithmic transformation.
