Additional information

The test substance was tested in a skin irritation/corrosion test in rabbits according to OECD 404. The test substance (500 µl) was administered via patch to the skin of one flank and remained there for 4 hours. The other flank served as control. The animals were observed for 14 days after experiment. Mean value for erythema after DRAIZE-grade was: 0.0; mean value for edema: 0.0. The test substance was found to be not irritating.

The test substance was tested in an eye irritation test in rabbits according to OECD 405. The test substance (100 µl) was administered into one eye of 3 rabbits (the other eye remained untreated and served as control). The substance was washed out after 24 hours. The animals were observed for 21 days after exposure. Mean value for cornea opacity after DRAIZE-grade was: 1.7; mean value for conjuctivae (redness): 2.0;

mean value for conjuctivae (chemosis): 0.44; iris: 0.0.

The test substance was found to be irritating to the eyes according to GHS. the substance has to be classified as Eye Irrit. 2; H319

Justification for selection of skin irritation / corrosion endpoint:
The most reliable study was used as key study and for classification.

Justification for selection of eye irritation endpoint:
The most reliable study was used as key study and for classification.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the results of a skin irritation study performed according to OECD 404 no classification is warranted.

In an eye irritation study performed according to OECD 405 the mean value was for cornea opacity: 1.7; mean value for conjuctivae (redness): 2.0; mean value for conjuctivae (chemosis): 0.44; iris: 0.0.

The test substance was found to be moderatly irritating. According to GHS the substance has to be classified as Eye Irrit. 2; H319
