Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Data are not available to allow the distribution of dibutyltin diacetate within the environment to be modelled. In Section 1.3 the solubility of DBT diacetate is reported as 0.4 g/L. However the analytical method used in the study was not compound specific and measured total tin. This potentially includes any contribution(s) from more water-soluble impurities or hydrolysis products and thus the value obtained is not likely to represent dibutyltin diacetate. Based on the known behaviour of dibutyltin acetate and other similar compounds, dibutyl tin will be insoluble in water and a solubility of 5 mg/L has been used in the assessments. A LogKow of 3.39 is reported in Section 1.3, however, as with the water solubility the analytical method used in the study was not compound specific and measured total tin. Based on this value the substance would be assumed to be moderately adsorbed to soil (Koc calculated by EUSES 2.1 702 ml/g (QSAR predominantly hydrophobics)). However, despite this, based on the low solubility in water and the known properties of similar compounds, it is considered that it is unlikely that it will be associated with water but primarily with soils or sediment. For the purpose of risk assessment a moderate sorption to soil/sediment has therefore been assumed and a Koc of 2000 ml/g has been used.
