Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Comparable to guideline study with acceptable restrictions (e.g. non-GLP)
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
other: DIN 51562 ASTM D 445
GLP compliance:
no

Key result
Temp.:
20°C
Parameter:
dynamic viscosity (in mPa s)
Value:
8.12

 Details on single measurements:

 Temperature /°C  kin. Viscosity (1. Measurement) /mm²/s

 kin. Viscosity (2. Measurement) /mm²/s

 20  8.973  8.980
 40  5.287  5.287

Accuracy < +/- 0.5%

The dynamic viscosity was calculated from the arithmetic mean of the kinematic viscosity (2 replicates) based on the density ( 0.9046 g/cm³) of the test item at 20°C:

8.120 mPa s.

Kinematic viscosity at 40°C (arithmetic mean of 2 replicates): 5.287 mm^2/s

Conclusions:
Dynamic viscosity (DIN 51562 / ASTM D 445): 8.12 mPa*s (20 °C)
Executive summary:

Viscosity was determined using the capillary viscosimeter method (kinematic viscosity; ASTM D 445; mean of two determinations) at 20 °C and 40 °C:

8.977 mm^2/s at 20°C, corresponding to a dynamic viscosity of 8.120 mPa s.

Kinematic viscosity at 40°C (arithmetic mean of 2 replicates): 5.287 mm^2/s

Description of key information

20 °C

Additional information

Viscosity was determined using the capillary viscosimeter method (kinematic viscosity; ASTM D 445; mean of two determinations) at 20 °C and 40 °C:

8.977 mm^2/s at 20°C, corresponding to a dynamic viscosity of 8.120 mPa s.

Kinematic viscosity at 40°C (arithmetic mean of 2 replicates): 5.287 mm^2/s

With regard to aspiration hazard, no classification requirements do exist for carboxylic acids:

According to REGULATION (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP) only hydrocarbons, certain chlorinated hydrocarbons, primary alcohols and ketones may pose aspiration hazard in case of low kinematic viscosity.

In conclusion, no classification requirements do exist for the submission substance with regard to aspiration hazard.
