Description of key information

An activated sludge respiration inhibition test was performed according to OECD Guideline 209 with GLP compliance.

The EC50 of the test substance for activated sludge after 3 hours contact time was determined to be 156 mg/L.

The EC10, EC20 and EC80 were 38, 61 and 395 mg/L, respectively. The test substance is therefore considered not harmful to activated sludge.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
156 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
38 mg/L

Additional information

An activated sludge respiration inhibition test was performed (with an incubation period of 3 h) according to OECD Guideline 209 with GLP compliance and with the following test concentrations: 18.1, 36.2, 72.5, 145.0, 289.9 and 579.8 mg/L. The test is valid and the inhibition percentage of the test substance was 5, 6, 7, 48, 73 and 92 at 18.1, 36.2, 72.5, 145.0, 289.9 and 579.8 mg/L, respectively.

The EC50 of test substance for activated sludge after 3 hours contact time was determined to be 156 mg/L with 95% confidence limits of 65 and 808 mg/L. The EC10, EC20 and EC80 were 38, 61 and 395 mg/L, respectively. The test substance is therefore considered not harmful to activated sludge.
