First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove to fresh air if effects occur. Consult a physician.
Note to physician:
May cause tissue destruction leading to stricture. If lavage
is performed, suggest endotracheal and/or esophagoscopic
control. If burn is present, treat as any thermal burn,
after decontamination. No specific antidote. Supportive
care. Treatment based on judgement of the physician's
response to reactions of the patient.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Immediate and continuous irrigation with flowing water for
at least 30 minutes is imperative. Sek medical advice
immediately.
Emergency measure - Skin: Immedately flush with plenty of water for at least 15
minutes. Remove residues with soap and water. Wash
contaminated clothes before reuse.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Give large amounts of water or milk
if available and transport to medical facility. If lavage is
performed, suggest endotracheal and/or oesophageal control.
Danger from lung aspiration must be weighed against toxicity
when considering emptying the stomach.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Dry chemical, carbon dioxide.
Water must not be used.
Product arising from burning: Carbon monoxide, aldehydes, hydrogen fluoride and other
decomposition and combustion products in the case of
incomplete combustion.

Protective equipment: Minimize breathing gases, vapors, fumes, or decomposition
products. Use supplied-air breathing equipment.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Evacuate personnel from the immediate vicinity and
extinguish any sources of ignition.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment including
chemical protective clothing, gloves, eye protection,
appropriate footwear and respiratory protection as specified
in Section 2.3.10.
Absorb spillages with a suitable inert material (e.g. sand
or soil). Carefully transfer the spillage to waste
containers, or use a sealed industrial vacuum machine.
Containers filled with waste material must be labelled in
the same way as the original CGC Co-Catalyst containers.
Dispose of waste material in accordance with local
regulations by incineration.
Ventilate spillage area after material is cleaned up.
Flushings and washwaters must be confined and prevented from
entering into soil, waterways and ground water.
Handling and storage
Handling: The substance should be stored, handled and used under
conditions of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with
any local regulations in order to avoid exposure by
ingestion, inhalation, skin and eye contact.
Use local exhaust ventilation.
When exposure cannot be prevented or adequately controlled
personal protective equipment including eye protection, e.g.
goggles, impervious neoprene or nitrile butadiene rubber
gloves, chemical resistant footwear and chemical protective
clothing made of neoprene, nitrile butadiene rubber or PVC
(apron) should be worn. Furthermore, when respiratory
equipment is required it must be capable of adequately
controlling exposure, be suitable for the purpose and
conform to the appropriate national or international
standards. When there is a risk of exposure to vapours, a
half-face fiilter mask is advised in combination with
cartriges for organic vapours (classification: A2).
Storage: The substance should be stored in sealed containers under an
inert atmosphere. Exposure to water and moist air must be
avoided.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Glass bottles in sealed steel drums with appropriate shock
absorbent materials. Only UN approved packaging shall be
used.

well to oxidising agents.

Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: After use, this substance cannot be traced in the final
polymer as such, therefore cannot be recovered or recycled.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: The reactive chemical properties of the substance can be
neutralised by reacting it with isopropanol.
No treatment specifically to neutralise the health or
environmental hazards is known, although the chemical
neutralisation with isopropanol might reduce the skin and
eye irritation effects.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: The substance should not be disposed of by landfill.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance should be neutralised with isopropanol and
disposed of by incineration under controlled conditions at a
licensed waste treatment processor in accordance with local
regulations. Stack gases should be scrubbed, because noxious
fumes (e.g. carbon monoxide, aldehydes, hydrogen fluoride
and boron containing compounds) may be produced.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance should not be discharged directly to the
sewage system or the aqueous environment. However, the
substance has been shown not to be unduly toxic to sewage
micro-organisms.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable, 100% use in chemical plants by industrial
users.
